Keep Healthy All Year Long, Media Tours Focus on Health and Fitness
Statistics show that by February 25% of new years resolutions are broken. However, many of NBN’s clients are committed to the progression of good personal health and fitness. For our longtime client The American Heart Association, we did a combination RMT and NewsInfusion.com page for their Walking Clubs promotion. The AHA says that only 15% of Americans get at least the recommended 150 minutes of moderate exercise each week, but one way many more of us might be motivated to get up and walk is by joining walking clubs. The AHA is partnering with Walgreens to promote the program and had Dr. Barry Franklin, Ph.D., Director of Cardiac Rehabilitation and Exercise Laboratories at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan as the spokesperson. Dr. Franklin says there’s a real physical advantage to exercise walking: “For every hour of regular, vigorous physical activity, like brisk walking, life expectancy may increase for some adults by two hours.” The NI page includes video B-roll, a press release, the RNR audio and script, and details about how to form or join a walking club www.newsinfusion.com/events/AHAwalkingclub
Another longtime client dedicated to health and wellness is Shape Magazine. For Shape we put together a co-op media tour with senior associate lifestyle editor whom gave tips on improving health and dropping those extra holiday pounds. Among the clients were Fleishman-Hillard St. Louis, representing Select Comfort; Porter Novelli DC, representing Nature Made; and Fleishman-Hillard NY, representing Perdue. The tour had 17 interviews and an additional release through NewsInfusion, Made in Hollywood, Ion TV and a Radio News Release. You can see the co-op page here: http://newsinfusion.com/events/shapemagazinewinterwellness.
In a three hour media tour from Orlando, Florida, the Diet Diva – Tara Gidus, who is also the team nutritionist for the NBA’s Orlando Magic – told stations around the country that there are specific reasons that most people lose their motivation to follow through on their plans for healthy eating. She said, “Many of us start the year with lofty goals but we soon realize that they are unrealistic and that we don’t have support from family and friends. So, to make worthwhile resolutions, make sure they are achievable. Write down your resolution and make a specific plan for implementing it.” The tour was for Jamba Juice and Tara explained, “On a practical level, you can find healthy alternatives, especially if you’re on the go. Pop over to Jamba Juice for one of their new Fit ‘n Fruitful™ smoothies with a Weight Burner Boost.” You can see the video – and get a little resolution inspiration at http://newsinfusion.com/events/jambajuicediet
