They say it’s a jungle out there…

…but this one was without the ‘fun and games’ Guns N Roses sang about… And for victims of cyber fraud, the Internet jungle is a particularly dangerous place and anything but fun. For our client contacts at Edelman representing their client Experian, we produced a national RNR on what to do if your someone comes looking for your personal information or credit through a phishing attack…or as the story title put it, How to Fight Phishing Once You’ve Been Hooked. The story was distributed nationally via our AudioMax package including two broadcasts on the Lifestyle Radio Network all totaling an estimated weekly cume of almost 25 million and featured Rod Griffin, the Director of Public Education at Experian. He told the nationwide radio audience that one in five Americans has been the target of phishing scams (requests for personal information from an apparently legitimate company that is in reality a bogus attempt to obtain your personal credit and ID numbers). He said, “Contact your bank, credit card companies, and credit reporting company
to request that they add a fraud alert to your accounts and credit reports. Contact the company that appeared to request the information fraudulently to either verify the request or notify the organization of phishing activity. Don’t delay reporting.” You can find out more information and stay safe online, visit www.experian.com/crediteducation or hear it here
