Starting a social media contest can be fun and exciting for your followers. And as an added bonus, it gives your company access to build new relationships and strengthen old ones. Mashable writer Clay McDaniel has 5 tips for creating a successful social media contest:
1.) Define Your Marketing Goal: What do you plan to accomplish? Drive awareness for a new product? Gain new contacts? Strengthen social media channels?
2.) Get Creative: Put a twist on your contest. Think of using multimedia such as video or photos in your contest.
3.) Leverage Social Channels: Have you tried using your social media channels to raise awareness about your contest? See your contest go viral, encourage participation and easily link them to your contest sign-up sheet are huge advantages Encouraging users to copy and paste your contest link into their postings is one way to reach thousands of users. Don’t forget to publicly thank the people that entered! We all love seeing our handles on other social media sites.
4.)Finish the Contest: Who won the contest? Announce the winner timely, and publicize their win. Here at NBN, we have a great idea for this! But we can’t tell you, because it’s a secret!
5.)Measure the Contest: Sure contest are fun and exciting, but what’s the return for you? Did the investment on the contest give you a return immediately or long term?
Contests are a great way to reach new clients, strengthen your social media following, and greet new followers and friends on your social channels. So far, during the first week, we’ve already had over 100 nominations through Twitter and Facebook. Not to mention, our friends have increased by the hundreds. For us, it’s a win-win situation. Contests help to spread social good, reach to our new and devoted clients, and increase our social community.
So, have you thought about which charity you’d like to nominate? Send us a tweet or post on our Facebook wall. Good luck!
